Oil Pulls Back From Recent Highs, but Supply Risks Keep Traders on Alert

Crude prices eased after diplomatic signals reduced immediate fears of a wider Middle East escalation, though shipping-route risks and production disruptions continue to support elevated prices.

Oil prices edged lower on Friday after diplomatic signals surrounding the US-Iran standoff reduced some immediate fears of a further escalation. Brent crude traded near $103.78 a barrel and US West Texas Intermediate around $91.06 in early Asian trade, according to market reports. The retreat followed a volatile session in which concern over tanker security near key Middle Eastern shipping routes and weather-related production shutdowns in the Gulf of Mexico had pushed prices higher. Even with the latest pullback, crude remains elevated and the market continues to price in the possibility of supply interruptions. For currency markets, the direction of oil matters beyond energy shares. Persistently expensive crude can lift inflation expectations, complicate central-bank decisions and influence currencies of major energy exporters and importers. A sustained decline could ease inflation pressure, while renewed disruption headlines may quickly restore a risk premium. Traders will be watching shipping updates, production news and official comments for signs that supply conditions are improving. Price swings may remain sharp while geopolitical developments and weather risks overlap. MarketMindFX note: This article is for market information only, not financial advice.
