Euro Finds a Tentative Pause Near $1.12 as French Fiscal Worries Persist

The euro recovered modestly from a 17-month low but remained on track for another weekly decline. French budget uncertainty and shifting US Treasury yields remain central drivers for EUR/USD.

The euro steadied near $1.1226 on Friday after touching a 17-month low of $1.1161 earlier in the week. The modest recovery has eased the immediate selling pressure, but the single currency remains vulnerable as investors weigh France’s fiscal outlook and political uncertainty around budget measures. French bond-market stabilization and a decline in US Treasury yields have offered some relief to the euro. Still, concerns over public finances and the prospect of further political friction continue to discourage buyers. The US dollar has also benefited from relative resilience in the US economy and weakness in several major counterparts. For EUR/USD, traders will be watching whether the pair can hold above the recent low and build on its rebound, or whether renewed dollar demand pushes it back toward the week’s trough. Bond yields, economic releases and political headlines may all influence the next move. The broader currency market remains uneven, with the Australian and New Zealand dollars showing modest gains while the Japanese yen has struggled over the week. In this environment, short-term moves can reverse quickly as investors react to new information. MarketMindFX note: This is general market commentary, not a trading recommendation.
